I've Got You Under My Spell.

RuneCrafting is the ability to craft Runes from Rune Essence. It is a very important skill for Mages to develop and will save them a substantial amount of gp as they progress in training magic. Unfortunately you must complete the Rune Mysteries Quest to gain access to the Rune Essence Mines and begin leveling this skill.

Wizards Who Can Teleport Players To the Rune Essence Are:

• Aubury - Located in Varrock - He operates the magic shop.
• Wizard Sedridor - Located in Wizard Tower - An odd wizard who lives in the basement.

After being teleported to the Rune Essence by one of the two wizards above, use a pick axe on the Rune Essence Rock to collect Rune Essence. Once your inventory is full use the portal located nearby to be teleported back to the teleporting wizard. Many players prefer the Varrock location, because it is located so close to a bank and makes for a swift deposit of essence. When you are satisfied with the amount of essence you have collected the next step is finding the Talisman and RuneCrafting Altar for the type of Rune you wish to craft. (ex. bring an Air Talisman to the Air RuneCrafting Altar to craft Air Runes.)

Runecrafting Altars:

• Air - South Of Falador.
• Mind - North Of Falador - East Of The Goblin Village.
• Water - Lumbridge Swamp - South East Of Draynor Village.
• Earth - North East Of Varrock - South Of The Lumberyard.
• Fire - North Of The Duel Arena In Al Kharid.
• Body - South West Of Edgeville - West Of Barbarian Village.

When you begin RuneCrafting; Rune Essence is changed into elemental Runes at a rate of 1 to 1. However, later when you gain experience in RuneCrafting this ratio will change. Use the table below to determine the RuneCrafting level needed to craft multiple Runes of a specific element type. It is worth mentioning however, that you will always receive the same amount of experience from crafting each type of Rune, regardless of the number of Runes you craft.

To free up a space in your inventory, craft a tiara and use it with a Talisman at the RuneCrafting Altar to create a RuneCrafting Tiara that you can wear. The process is fairly simple just use the tiara on the Air Altar while Holding an Air Talisman in your inventory. The tiara and Talisman will instantly be bound, creating an Air Tiara. This process can be followed for all 6 FTP Talisman types creating tiaras of Air, Mind, Water, Earth, Fire and Body.

Use "The Guide" on the left to determine the RuneCrafting level you need to attain before crafting specific types of Runes or using certain types of equipment. If you do not wish to craft Runes they may be purchased from Aubury in Varrock, from Betty in Port Sarim or sometimes, although rarely from the general stores. Unneeded Runes may be traded, sold to other players via the GE (General Exchange) or sold to general stores.
