Forged With Blood, Sweat and Tears.
After mining ores the next logical step would be to smelt them. If you have chosen to mine in Al Kharid as suggested you have access to both a bank and furnace and can begin smelting immediately.
Head to the bank and withdraw the ores needed to smelt an ore bar. Then walk to the furnace, right click the ore in your inventory and use it on the furnace. A metal bar of the same ore type will
be created.
If you have a sufficient magic level you have the option of smelting ore without the use of a furnace by activating the Super Heat Item Spell. The success rate is 100 % so this is an
exceptional way to smelt iron, which has a 50% success rate when smelted using a furnace. Experience points are applied to Smithing when the Super Heat Item Spell is used. When you have created as
many ore bars as possible, it's time to smith your newly created bars into something useful like weapons or armor.
Smithing Ore Bars Into Useable Items
Make your way North to Varrock and purchase a hammer from the general store or take one from your bank. Once you have obtained a hammer head over to the Smithing store and use your hammer
and metal bars to smith items on an anvil. A menu will open displaying which items you have the experience level to smith and how many bars of ore are required to make each item.
When viewing the menu:
If the item name is displayed in white text - You have the required Smithing level.
If the item name is displayed in black text - You do not have the required Smithing level.
If the bar amount appears in green text - You have enough bars to craft the item.
If the bar amount appears in red text - You do not have enough bars to craft the item.
